About us

Our History – and Our Future

Dress for Success Cincinnati was founded by Mary Ivers in 1999. Since the very beginning, it’s been our vision not only to provide assistance to women in need of appropriate clothing to interview for a job, but also to provide a stable, safe and caring environment for women as they reclaim their lives.

We will celebrate the expansion through the years of our services beyond the suit and especially, we will celebrate the many thousands of women it’s been our privilege to serve.

Client Services

Dress for Success Cincinnati has been the first step to a better life for thousands of local women since our founding. When we help them, we also help their families and our community.

Dress for Success Cincinnati is one of the few programs in the Greater Cincinnati Tri-State area focused specifically on the needs of unemployed and under-employed women and their families. Our successful programs empower women first to secure employment and ultimately to thrive in their careers, their lives and their communities.

Dress for Success Cincinnati became renowned for providing interview suits to women returning to or entering the workforce. Our mission has expanded to include a wide variety of workforce development programs, but the suiting program remains a crucial part of our work and a vital first-step in a woman’s journey toward self-sufficiency.

We serve women who may have been homeless, addicted, incarcerated or in rehab. Our clients may also be women who were not able to finish their education – or who may have stayed in a violent relationship because they felt there was no other alternative.

We see sisters, rather than strangers.

See our full continuum of services and programs on the Client Services page.

Every woman who comes to Dress for Success Cincinnati is treated with dignity and respect and can walk through our doors feeling confident and welcome. We focus on helping each woman prepare for the journey ahead of her. Our concern is not where our clients have been, but rather where they are going and how we can help them get there!
